Installing Karmic - Koala (Ubuntu 9.10) on Acer-Aspire-8920(G):
Out of the box, you won't have Audio.
Adding a module seem to solve the problem.
| /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf |

Open a Terminal screen and type:
Sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
Add the flollowing line at the Bottom, save and Reboot.
options snd-hda-intel model=auto
